Path to Cornwall beach used in Poldark shut due to injury concern
Access to a popular beauty spot in Cornwall has been closed due to fears that coastal erosion has made the path that leads to the beach National Trust said an unofficial and steep pathway leading to Pedn Vounder beach had become "increasingly unsafe" and was temporarily secluded spot - a tidal beach on the south coast of the Penwith Peninsula - featured in the BBC's historical drama series Poldark, starring Aidan charity said it made the decision due to a "significant increase in potential for serious injury".
A National Trust spokesman said: "As a charity that promotes access to nature and culture we always try and maintain access wherever it's possible to do so but, due to the increasing erosion undercutting the cliff, we have made the difficult decision to close it."The charity said the decision was made in consultation with local authorities and emergency services."We understand this closure may disappoint visitors and the local community and have not taken the decision lightly," the spokesman said."In the meantime, we encourage visitors to use nearby Porthcurno beach and to follow all local signage and safety advice."
